Showing an ongoing commitment to public and employee safety, TSP Projects put safety by design at the heart of all our projects. To encourage this approach we host a quarterly Safe by Design competition which recognises excellence amongst our staff in delivering safe by design solutions.
The winning entry for this quarter was the Leeds Station Threat, Vulnerability and Risk Assessment which saw the introduction of a new, streamlined process which will result in in a safer Southern Concourse for the general public, workforce and train operators.
The health and safety benefits being implemented from the TVRA are as a result of:
• a collaborative approach between all stakeholders
• undertaking a detailed structural analysis and surveys which reduced assumptions and improved design efficiency
• informed decisions by managing information efficiently
• material testing
By delivering this Threat, Vulnerability and Risk Assessment concurrently with project delivery the team had to adopt necessary changes quickly as the project progressed. Working collaboratively with all stakeholders was at the very heart of the success of this approach and TSP Projects will adopt this new process moving forward across other projects.
It’s exciting to see how this approach is already influencing industry good practice as others in the industry are already adopting the same approach.
The team donated their prize money to the Leeds Children’s Charity. http://www.leedschildrenscharity.org.uk/
